New mom, fairly new to saskatoon!

Hello mommies!

My name is Demelza (29yrs old) and I am mom to 3 month old Felix. I am finally getting through that first time fog (getting some sleep now - hurrah!) and thought it was time to introduce myself and my family. I am married to a lovely prairies man called Spence. I myself am from the UK originally but have *just* received my permanent residency. I have been here since April last year but am still getting to know the City as we only have one car which my hubby has to take to work unfortunately (boo).

We live a few blocks from Aden Bowman School in the Churchill/Adelaide area and I would love to meet some new moms to go for walks or meet up at broadway for a coffee etc. I don't know too many people in town and not many with young kids and I have realised how important it is to meet other families who can offer advice, encouragement or just a friendly smile when stress levels are high!!!

Speaking of which, does anyone have any funny ways of dealing with grumpy old ladies?!?!? I was having a coffee with my mother-in-law (no I am not referring to her, tee hee) and Felix started to get fussy and cry. I was doing all I could to soothe him while my MiL ran to the car to get my nursing pillow (the power of the boob) and another coffee shop inhabitant kept on staring at me and glaring and shaking her head as if she had never heard a baby cry before and that I was the worst mom ever. I thought about bouncing Felix up and down after feeding him and walking over so he would projectile spit up on the little scowler but refrained. I get so up tight when people stare when he cries and I wonder if anyone had any tricks of coping with it. (I guess in a few more months I wont worry so much what other people think....)
